This week the Intermediate Phase was proud to launch, for the first time in South Africa, the 10ticks Maths programme. This unique, online programme, which was introduced to parents for the first time at our Theme Evening, empowers the girls to take ownership of their Maths learning.

Students can work on courses set by their teachers, whilst at the same time accessing a database stocked with a range of revision material, games and tutorials. All of which are set within a South African context.

10ticks promotes independence and, in conjunction with our school online learning portal, provides a wonderful ‘at home’ supplement for our classroom Maths.

When introducing it to the Grade 5 classes this week, I was astounded by how quickly the girls picked up the system and through exploring the programme for themselves discovered new techniques that they then taught me.

The girls commented on how interactive the system was and said: ‘It is brilliant to have control for ourselves.’
