Book blogs vs book logs

The English Department recently brought Web 2.0 technology to the classroom by adapting their reading project from a traditional book log to a book blog. Grade 10 students worked in groups of three to blog about their favourite books by discussing three main areas, namely character, plot and theme. To do this, students posted on the school intranet which is built on SharePoint 2010 technology.

How we use SharePoint as a classroom management tool

We began our SharePoint journey in 2009 to provide 'anytime, anywhere' access to school resources. In this article I will demonstrate how we use some of the built-in SharePoint web-parts as a classroom management tool:
  • Announcements: this enables teachers to post important information, for example reminders about tests and assignments.

  • Class discussion: similar to an online forum, students are able to post questions or participate in discussions.

  • Links: teachers can post links to useful website...

Prep School Intranet ('SchoolZone') now live

We are pleased to announce that the Preparatory School intranet (SchoolZone) was launched at the end of Term 2 for Grade 4-7. Classroom resources such as term calendars, homework, important announcements and online discussions are just some of the exciting new features on offer. The intranet has been developed using Microsoft SharePoint technology. Need help logging in?
